On this site are recent paintings done in oil. I primarily use a palette knife. I love the thick texture and the happy little mistakes that happen along the creative process.

Kishwaukee Fields ©

Just on the edge of Woodstock, is a really lovely little park.  Nearby you will find the headwaters of the Kishwaukee River.  The river begins as a wetland stream in Woodstock, IL and runs to Rockford, IL where it becomes part of the Rock River.  I chose to paint this small masterpiece during a Woodstock plein air event last spring.

Prairie ©

I used splashes of color to lead the viewer into this painting; from cadmium red light, to light blue, to violet and finally greenish blue.

Crabtree In The Fall ©

Crabtree Nature Center is located in a northwest suburb of Chicago.  It's a great place to paint al la plein air.

Spring is in the Air ©

Flowers are fun to paint especially with a palette knife. The flowers are very impressionistic, like most of my paintings are. I love the feel of them.....happy!
