On this site are recent paintings done in oil. I primarily use a palette knife. I love the thick texture and the happy little mistakes that happen along the creative process.

Country Road©

This is a plein air painting I did right down the street from my home.  While painting this people would stop to see what I was doing.  What a great way to meet the neighbors!!

Hiking At Brookdale©

Brookdale Forest Preserve is a beautiful little park right outside of Harvard, Illinois.  My friend
MaryBeth and I plein air paint there often. I painted this one Friday morning when the sun was coming up.  I love how the light filters through the trees.

Family Fun©

Wisconsin is one of my favorite places to visit and get some really nice photos. This is a painting from one of those photographs.  Nancy, who is my friend and one of my biggest collectors, told me that she loved it when my paintings told a story. So that has inspired me......to tell a story with my paintings by adding people or animals. Thank you for viewing my blog.

Let's Go Fishing©

This is a Plein Air painting I did at a local forest preserve.  I especially enjoyed adding the father and son that were fishing that morning.  It reminded me of when my dad would take my sister and I fishing.

Plein Air painting at the Clearing in Dorr County.  This was actually the first
painting I did.  My main focus was painting buildings, the background was
just suggested in each of the Plein Air paintings I did.

Watts Marina ©

I pass Watts Marina on my way to work every day.  I had fun putting people into the painting, along with trying my hand at painting boats. It was a fun and challenging painting experience!

State Line Pastures ©

I competed this quick study primarily using my palette knife.  The horses are grazing on a pasture down the road from our home.  I have been wanting to paint these horses for awhile now.  This little masterpiece is the first in a series of horse paintings I plan to complete in the near future.

Yosemite Prairie ©

This past fall I visited Yosemite, California. I was there to attend my nieces wedding.  Yosemite is so huge that we were only able to see a small portion of the park. It was gorgeous and as beautiful as I remembered from my childhood!! I took many reference photos of Yosemite National Park, hoping to capture the magnificent scenery in future paintings created in my studio.  This is my first attempt.  I am pleased with the results. Stay tuned for more.

Out My Front Porch ©

This is a plein air painting of the land across the street from my house.  Every morning the sun hits the trees in different ways, each day revealing something prettier than the day before. On this particular morning I spotted a deer, so of course I had to put her in the painting.
